About Newton Family Singers

Artistic Director

Musical Director
Our Musical Director, Chris Eastburn, is an arranger, orchestrator and award-winning composer, as well as the Artistic Director of the Family Folk Chorale in Arlington. Chris’ broad range of experience includes work as a producer, choral director, composition training, and interest in diverse styles of music such as early music, traditional folk, jazz and contemporary classical music.

Chris’ recent projects include:
  • Orchestrations for the touring show "Piano Men–The Music of Billy Joel and Elton John", which became the highest selling Pops show in Portland Symphony history and has played to sold out audiences with professional orchestras around the country since 2011.
  • Orchestrations for the touring show "Classic Rock", described by Conductor Robert Moody as, "About the finest I have ever seen.”
  • Orchestrations for the new touring show "IMAGINE: The Beatles Solo Era" which in it’s entirety is scored for symphony orchestra, rock band, soloists and chorus.  IMAGINE will premiere with full orchestra this February with the NEPA Philharmonic in Pennsylvania.
  • Composing several ballet scores commissioned by Newport’s contemporary ballet company, Island Moving Co. (Newport Stories, and Consent to Gravity)
  • Writing the vocal and string ensemble score for Moses Brown and the Story of the Slave Ship Sally, a breakthrough dramatic exploration of Rhode Island’s historical involvement in the Triangle (slave) Trade.  This project was commissioned by the  Moses Brown School with funding from the Rhode Island Council for the Arts.
