Newton Family Singers Turns Five

For five years, NFS has been bringing together family, community and music to entertain, inspire and delight our audiences throughout Greater Boston. For this special anniversary show, we’ve chosen our favorite songs from past seasons by artists you’ll remember well, like Cat Stevens, Carole King and the Eagles. You’ll hear our most crowd-pleasing and heartfelt songs that will get you clapping, singing, dancing in the aisles, and will remind you of the joy and power of community singing.

We also sing three songs in celebration of the lives of Nelson Mandela and Pete Seeger, two social justice visionaries who passed away this year, using the power of song to reflect on their common message of inclusivity. The women’s selection is Ysaye Barnwell’s setting of Kahlil Gibran’s “On Children.”

Three weeks from now the chorus joins the New Philharmonia Orchestra and Boston Ballet for their “Harmonia Celebrations” holiday show.
