Celebrate the Music of the Traveling Wilburys

We are thrilled to invite you as the Newton Family Singers pay tribute to the legendary Traveling Wilburys. Join us for an afternoon filled with timeless melodies and harmonious performances that will captivate audiences of all ages.

Who were the Traveling Wilburys? A British-American supergroup formed in 1988, featuring George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison and Tom Petty. Their formation was spontaneous: what began as a casual recording session for a B-side track led to the creation of “Handle with Care,” a song too good to be a throwaway. Inspired by their chemistry, they recorded an entire album and then a second. Embracing humor, each member adopted a Wilbury alias, presenting themselves as long-lost musical brothers. Their unique blend of rock and folk, combined with their camaraderie, made them one of the most iconic supergroups of all time.

The program: “Handle with Care,” “Inside Out,” “Heading for the Light,” “If Not for You,” “This Is Love,” “Runnin’ Down a Dream,” “Got My Mind Set on You,” “Give Me Love,” “American Dream Plan B,” “All Those Years Ago,” “Wilbury Twist,” “Blown Away,” “Cool Dry Place,” “End of the Line” and “You Got It,” with a brass section from the Calcifer Jazz band.

This season’s concert is also a fundraiser for Family Promise Metrowest, a local organization which works to transform the lives of families with children facing homelessness.
